Who is required to convert their licence?

If you've just become an Australian resident or permanent visa holder, under the Commonwealth Migration Act 1958 you are no longer considered to be a visitor. You may continue to use a current overseas or international drivers licence for 3 months, however during this time you should convert your overseas licence to an Australian licence. If you allow either your overseas licence or the three month period to lapse, you will be required to progress through the Australian graduated licensing scheme as it applied to NSW in its entirety.
